Lung Self Care

Even before the COVID-19 maintaining Lung health has been part of my self care routines.  Breathing air pollution, second hand smoke (yes, even walking down the street – there are times when I will walk into a cigar/cigarette or marijuana air bomb) isn’t good for your lungs.

I don’t smoke.  If you do, it isn’t good for lung health.  Period.  This includes vaping.

I love steaming my lungs in the morning.  I have one of those personal Vick’s steamers I bought at the drug store.  If I feel a cold coming on, I add a Vicks Vapor ring, but for general use, I just steam with water.  It clears my sinus’s,  my whole head feels better.  This isn’t a do one time thing, for best results, you steam at least a couple times a week.  There isn’t long term results unless you keep steaming regularly.

As a submissive, I bend over a lot of laps for spankings, or for impact play on my bottom.  When I do, if my head is clogged with mucus it all drains forward and I feel pressure inside my face.  Uncomfortable at best, running nose and headache at worse.  With steaming, I do not have these conditions.

Regular exercise is good for your body and mental health.  I am walker.  I have a dog.  Even our short walks for 20 minutes at a good pace will increase my heart rate, make me breathe deeper, increase oxygen to my lungs, improves circulation, makes me glisten, all the things that assist your lungs in working more efficiently.

I love Green Tea. Hot.  Even when I am traveling and staying in a hotel room, nice ones include a little machine and Green Tea.  Green Tea reduces inflammation in your lungs.  It is refreshing to just take a few minutes, breathe deeply, center myself, drink my tea.   Next time you feel overwhelmed I suggest you try it.

There are foods I eat to reduce inflammation.   I add a handful of dried cherries to my oatmeal in the morning.  I love beans and lentils – soups for lunch with these is a bonus.  I cook with extra virgin Olive oil.  So good for your body.  Olive oil contains oleic acid and oleocanthal, two nutrients that can fight inflammation and has Vitamin K and E.

To obtain some specific antioxidants, try to include the following in your diet:

Vitamin A: Salmon, butter, Cheddar Cheese, hard boiled egg, trout, mango, cantaloupe, grapefruit, sweet potato, kale

Vitamin C:  acerola cherries, guavas, thyme, parsley, kale, Brussels spouts

Vitamin E: sunflower seeds, almonds, pine nuts, rainbow trout, salmon

Beta-carotene: carrots, sweet potatoes, podded peas, spinach, summer squash, and apricots

Lycopene: guava, tomatoes, cherries, raspberries, grapefruit, papaya, mango and watermelon

Lutein: Kale, green peas, summer squash, pumpkin, Brussels sprouts, carrots, Pistachios

Selenium: Brazil nuts, fish, oatmeal, bananas, hard boiled eggs, yogurt

These are foods I eat all the time.

Lung health is an important part of Self Care.

Live well, Be happy.

I love my life.
